Mahindra & Mahindra has launched its new range SUV Xylo in India at a cheaper price compared with other cars in its range. M&M for the second time in its history of its kind which accomplished moving into MPV space.
The development of the better part of Xylo took four years and it is its new offering from M&M after its release of Scorpio and is significant as it included a very young team of engineers and product planners.
The Xylo being the first genuine MPV from a Indian car manufacturer would be a honest performer. The beauty of the car might not win the hearts but it is in its practical appeal and versatility that the beauty of the car emerges the fore. Its built on a brand new body-on-chassis structure, the Xylo is a marvel of packaging and shares next to no body or suspension part of any MUV in the present Indian Market. It is featured with a long wheel base and a wider track than Scorpio giving it up more freed up space in all the three rows from the new thought of suspension layout.
The airy ambience in the cabin is matched with usable space in which a 6 foot tall person can stretch in comfort even in the third row making it the most comfortable car in the country so far. The car was in design and test stage even before Toyota Innova was launched in India. It has also surpassed the ergonomics of the Japanese Standards.
The engine has been massively reworked with a 2.5 litre engine which has been christened the mEagle. This unit works on a common rail direct injection along with a host of new efficiency enhancers and an almost linear torque delivery to go with the 112 horses the motor develops. This makes it up to pick up 0-60 kmph in just 5.8 sec.The gearbox and the differential gear have all new optimised ratios thereby delivering strong drive ability and high fuel efficiency. It has got a unique air induction system feeding into the top mounted intercooler, a detail which M&M has applied a patent for.
Overall the Xylo is going to play a most important role to have hit Indian roads and is intelligently conceived to play many ends of the market at one go. It is available in 4 exiting variants and eight elegant shades.
