Tata Motors another Big Boy has been launched into the Indian market and has been named as Tata Xenon. It being the descendant of the Tatamobile 206 which has been launched in 1988 followed by Tata 207 DI in 2002 and Tata TL 4×4 in 2005 which were available both in single and double cab versions.
The development of this muscular macho guy took about 18 months with the conceptive ideas of a UK based designer, Concept Group Consultants. The body is based on the 207’s chassis. Moreover this could be the best pick-up vehicle of its kind in the Indian market with lots of luxuries installed in compared with the segment in its class M&M’s Getover.
The deck at the back is hugely spaced with a load accommodating 1000kilograms.Its been driven by the its big brother’s Tata Safari’s 2.2 litre engine which would reach 0-100 in less than 15 seconds and can hit to a maximum speed of 160kmph.It has also been equipped with a technology Variable Turbine Technology (VTT) which not only boosts power and torque but also lowers fuel consumption and emission under all operating conditions This would suit the Indian who would give his leisure a lot of importance. The car can accommodate 5 persons along with the features like power windows and seats, air conditioning, four-wheel drive, electronic change on the fly, alloy wheels, power steering, a CD player.
This big boy will also enter the international market soon into Thailand which owes the second largest pick up vehicle market after USA, followed by South Africa and Europe with a JV with Fiat.
The vehicle would be available in two variants and four colors.
