What is Edema?

Edema is a condition (swelling)  that occurs due to the accumulation of the fluid beneath the skin or in one or more cavities of the body. Edema is also known as ‘dropsy’ or ‘hydropsy’. Edema is common is some body parts like hands, ankles and feet.

Edema is well noticed during pregnancy and if travelled for a long time sitting at a same place. The best way of treating edema is to identify the underlying cause.
