Plums (or Gages) are dark red in colour like wild cherries and saltish sweet in taste. The Indian Plums are called as Aloo Bukara. The ripened fruits have a waxy layer on them which occurs naturally but it is removed by wiping.
Fresh Plums are used in preparing confectionaries like jams and juices and are also used for cooking. They are also used as dry fruits.
As the Plums contain more amount of fibre, the juice is used for rectifying digestive problems and constipation is also corrected by them.
Plums contain more amount of anti-oxidants, so they can be eaten as dry fruits. They increase the efficiency of the functioning of nerves and improve the pulse. They contain more amount of Iron also which helps in improving blood circulation and prevents heart problems. If taken daily, the functioning of optic nerves can be maintained properly and eye sight can be improved.
Plums also have the properties of preventing several cancers. The Vitamin C present in Plums prevents a person’s susceptibilty and increases the resistance to asthma, colonic cancer, osteo arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis etc.
