Home testing blood glucose monitors are available now a day making the procedure easy and avoiding visiting of a lab often. The pricking of the finger for obtaining a drop of blood sometimes become painful makes the users to avoid the test. Some people get accustomed to it. Here are some tips for the users to make it less painful and comfortable.
- Prick on the sides of the fingers than at the tip since the tip has more nerve endings.
- Do not use alcohol to clean the tip. Alcohol dries the skin and become more painful.
- Clean your finger with warm water.
- Give pressure at the place of puncture as it makes less painful
- Never use only one finger repeat with other fingers also.
- Never reuse the lancet. Discard the lancet after a single use.
- If the drop is not sufficient never press, but hang your hand down.
- If you follow the above tips home testing for blood sugar will be more comfortable.
