Chittoor, the Rayalaseema district saw an even fight between the Congress and the TDP in the 14 Assembly seats. Congress won 7 out of that while the TDP got 6, the remaining one seat that of Temple town – Tirupathi was bagged by debutant Konidela Chiranjeevi for the PRP. Former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu retained his Kuppam seat.
