The Desert State of Rajasthan proved to be a disaster for the BJP but that was on expected lines as it was defeated in the Assembly elections not so long ago. The BJP which had got 21 seats in the 2004 General Elections in Rajasthan dipped drastically to just the 4 seats this time around. The Congress which is ruling the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot captured an impressive tally of 20 out of the 25 Lok Sabha Seats here. One seat from Dausa was won by an Independent Candidate.
