15th Lok Sabha Elections in Uttarakhand 2009 Verdict

The Northern State of Uttarakhand was an embarassment for the BJP as it lost all the 5 Lok Sabha Seats in the State to the Congress. This was despite being the ruling party since 2007! The Congress secured a vote share of 43.13% while the ruling BJP under the leadership of Chief Minister Maj. Gen. B.C. Khanduri could get only 33.82%. Mayawati’s BSP had a decent vote share at 15.24%.

  5. Hardwar (Haridwar) Constituency MP – Harish Rawat (Indian National Congress)
