15th Lok Sabha Elections in West Bengal 2009 Verdict

Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress turned the tables upside down in this Lok Sabha Elections. Her party which got just one solitary MP Seat in the 2004 Lok Sabha Elections ended up with as many as 19 this time out of the 42 Parliamentary seats in West Bengal!

The Trinamool allied itself with the Congress in this elections. Its opponent in West Bengal – the ruling CPI-M got decimated, the Left Front (consisting of the CPI-M, CPI and others) from a 2004 elections tally of 34 seats was cut short to just 15!
