The polling for Assembly elections started today in the states of Punjab and Uttarakhand. All the arrangements for the peaceful elections are carried out.
Election in Punjab:
There are 19,841 polling stations in Punjab for 117 assembly seats. The polling began at 8 a.m in the morning. Despite the winter chill voters started coming to the polling station at 7.30 a.m itself and even before the opening of the polling stations.
To make sure of the peaceful elections in Punjab, along with state police, para-military staff from about 200 companies has been arranged. The police have divided the poling stations into few categories.
Shiromani Akalidhal gave 10 seats, BJP gave 3 seats, Congress gave 11 seats and BSP gave 6 seats for women to contest for the elections.
The Principal Secretary of the Chief Minister of the Punjab, DS Guru who resigned recently, is contesting for this elections and going to try his luck in Politics.
Election in Uttarakhand:
All arrangements have been made in Uttarakhand also to conduct peaceful elections. The polling officers have reached their polling stations to conduct the elections. Of the total 1,078 contestsnts, 93 women contesters and 417 independent participants are contesting for the on going elections in Uttarakhand.
The Election commission officials have identified 5 hyper sensitive polling stations (Patiala, Lambi, Bholath, Majithia and Jalalabad) and 32 sensitive polling stations.
