He received many awards including the most honourable Bharat Ratna and Dadasaheb Phalke award in the year 1992. He played many roles like singer, composer, director and poet. He won many awards for the compositions in the film ‘Rudaali’. He was the man behind the inception of colour films in Arunachal Pradesh.
