With an aim to control the spread of the H1N1 virus of swine flu in India, Cadila Pharmaceuticals, India is seeking Government permission for starting clinical trials of Swine flu vaccine. In this regard Cadila Pharmaceutical Ltd (CPL) has set up a joint venture with the US based vaccine maker Novavax for manufacturing the vaccine along with the other type of vaccines.
They are going two apply for phase -I clinical trials to the Drug Controller General of India in a couple of days as informed by It’s Managing director I.A. Modi. He is confident of initiating the clinical trials with the advanced technology of its partner by December if the permission is received from the DGGI soon. He also stated that one million doses per month can be produced with the existing facilities. He is hopeful of getting permission instantly considering the urgent necessity for the control of the virus. Novavax has already obtained permission from the US Federal Drug Association to undertake the clinical trials.
He said that two doses vaccine are necessary in two weeks period to protect form Swine Flu virus.
