A day when the Railways Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav had announced the Rail Budget in the Parliament, a disastrous train accident happened in Orissa. The Coromandel Express which shuttles from Kolkata to Chennai derailed near Cuttack on 13th Feb evening . About fifteen bogie’s derailed and 17 persons feared of death about 170 injured in the tragic accident. The derailment happened near Jojpur station in Orissa. About six trains which start from Howrah were being cancelled viz 2841 Up Coromandel Express, 2703 Up Falaknama Express, 2863 Up Yashwantpur Express, 8645 Up East Coast Express, 8409 Up Jagannath Express and 2821 Up Dhauli Express. The Railway ministry announced Rs 50,000 exgracia for the victims injured and Rs 5,00,000 for the persons who were dead along with a job in the railways to the next kin.
