ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2009 – Australia Women ease past England Women at Sydney

Australia Women won their Super Six Match against England Women with total ease by 8 wickets and 97 balls to spare at the North Sydney Oval in Sydney. England were bowled out for a modest 161 inside 50 overs and the target was chased down by the Aussies in just 33.5 overs losing only two wickets.

The top scorer for England Women was Claire Taylor, who made 49 (from 77 balls with 5 fours). In the Australian bowling, the most succesful was pacer Sarah Andrews who took 3 for 35 while Lisa Sthalekar and Shelley Nitschke chipped in with a couple of wickets each. Shelley Nitschke later opened the batting for the Australians and she scored a cameo of 37 from 43 balls (with 6 fours and a six). She got the Player of the Match for her all-round efforts.

They were three more significant scorers in the Aussie innings in Leah Poulton (38), Skipper Karen Rolton (41 not out) and Alex Blackwell (38 not out).
