India Women beat Australia Women by 3 wickets and with 13 balls to spare in a low-scoring affair at the Bankstown Oval in Sydney in a match that was for the 3rd place play-off. Batting first the Aussie Women were bowled out for 144 in 44.4 overs. The match was curtailed to a 46-over-contest after a rain interruption. The significant contributors for them were Captain Karen Rolton (52) and Lisa Sthalekar (30). For India, Skipper Jhulan Goswami, Rumeli Dhar, Gouher Sultana and Priyanka Roy took two wickets each.
The Indian Women scratched their way to a win that took 43.5 overs. Most of their batswomen got off to a start but failed to make that count. The top scorer was wicket keeper Sulakshana Naik who made 28. However, it was the pair of Rumeli Dhar (24 not out) and Jhulan Goswami (18 not out) that won the match towards the end with an unbroken stand of 41. Off Spinner Lisa Sthalekar was the most succesful bowler with three wickets.
The Player of the Match was Rumeli Dhat for her all-round show.
