New Zealand Women won their Group A Match against West Indies Women by 56 runs at the Bankstown Oval in Sydney. The White Ferns who won the toss and elected to bat first scored 192 for 8 in 50 overs. In reply, Windies could only make 136 for 8 in their 50 overs.
Sarah Tsukigawa who came in at no.8 was the top scorer in the Kiwi innings with an unbeaten 41 from 35 balls with 5 fours and a six. Amy Satterthwaite and Aimee Mason chipped in with 37 and 38 respectively. They were a couple of good innings from the West Indies team, from opener Stafanie Taylor (38 from 73 balls) and no.3 Pamela Lavine (40 from 97 balls) but the rest of the batting didn’t do well. Off Spinners Aimee Mason and Lucy Doolan picked up three wickets each for the Kiwis.
The Player of the Match was given to Sarah Tsukigawa who also bowled well for her figures of 8-1-14-0.
