ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2009 – Pakistan Women defeat West Indies Women in Super Six

Pakistan Women tasted success against West Indies Women in the Super Six Match at the Drummoyne Oval in Sydney. It was a low scoring affair with Windies posting just 132 for 9 in 50 overs and Pakistan chasing that down with the loss of 6 wickets in 47.5 overs.

The top scorer for West Indies Women was opener Stafanie Taylor who made 55 from 115 balls. Almas Akram was the best bowler for Pakistan with fabulous figures of 7-4-7-3.

In their chase of 133, Pakistan Women were out of the match when they got reduced to 55 for 5. But a 61-run stand between Skipper Urooj Mumtaz (22) and Wicket Keeper Armaan Khan (43* from 48 balls) revived their hopes and led them to a 4-wicket win. Qanita Jain added an unbeaten 15 from 13 balls to ease the Pakistanis through in the final moments of the game. Amas Akram got the Player of the Match Award.
