ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2009 – Tiffen, Bates star in NZ run riot win against Pak

New Zealand Women crushed Pakistan Women by a record 223 runs in the last of the Super Six Matches at the Drummoyne Oval in Sydney. The Kiwis made a smashing 373 for 7 in the allotted 50 overs with Skipper cum Opener Haidee Tiffen (100 from 128 balls with 3 fours) and no.3 Suzie Bates (168 from 105 balls with 19 fours and 6 sixes) scoring centuries and putting up a partnership of 262. Nicola Browne gave the finishing touches with an unbeaten cameo of 33 from 22 balls.

Pakistan Women in reply got bowled out for 150 in 48.1 overs. Opener Nain Abidi top scored with 52 while the Captain Urooj Mumtaz made 27. The most succesful wicket taker for the Aussies was Lucy Doolan who took 3 for 30 in her 10 overs. The Player of the Match was obviously Suzie Bates for her power packed innings.
