ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2009 – White Ferns demolish Proteas at Bowral

New Zealand Women demolished South Africa Women in the Group A Match at the Bradman Oval in Bowral. Batting first, the Kiwis scored a confident 250 for 5 while the Proteas got embarassingly bowled out for a paltry 51 in 22.1 overs.

The New Zealand innings was packed with half centuries from Amy Satterthwaite (73 from 76 balls), Sara McGlashan (88* from 76 balls) and Nicola Browne (51* from 74 balls). For the South Africa Women, Charlize van der Westhuizen and Alicia Smith picked up two wickets each.

The South African Women saw just one bastwoman Cri-zelda Brits (25) entering into double figures. Five batswomen were sent packing for ducks. The chief wreckers for the White Ferns were Suzie Bates and Aimee Mason who picked up four wickets each. The Player of the Match was given to Amy Satterthwaite.
