West Indies Women just managed to chase down an absolutely dismal target of 117 which they did losing 8 wickets and with just 8 balls to spare! It was the 4th Match of the tournament and was played at the No 1 Sports Ground in Newcastle.
South Africa Women batted first having won the toss and they were skittled out for 116 in the 46th over. The top scorer was opener Alicia Smith, who made 46 from 109 balls. The most succesful West Indian bowler was Stafanie Taylor who picked up 4 for 17 with her off breaks.
Although the West Indies weren’t chasing a decent target, they were put on the backfoot by three run outs. Extras proved to be costly for the South Africans at a total of 18 including 9 wides. The top scorer was Shanel Daley with 26 from 67 balls. The Player of the Match went to Stafanie Taylor (for her 4/17) who failed with the bat having opened the innings.
