England Women put in a strong performance in the 2nd Match of the just started Women’s Cricket World Cup in Australia. The English Women beat Sri Lanka Women convincingly by 100 runs at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.
Veteran Claire Taylor scored a quick century, 101 from 95 balls to power England Women to 277 for 5 in the allotted 50 overs. Opener Caroline Atkins was the second highest scorer with 50. Sri Lanka Women Captain Shashikala Siriwardene had won the toss and had asked England to bat first. The Lankans were restricted to 177 for 7 in their chase. The top scorer for them was Suwini de Alwis. Laura Marsh was the most succesful bowler with figures of 10-1-32-3.
