L.K.Advani Condems Mangalore Pub Attacks

L.K.Advani has strongly condemned the Mangalore Pub attacks carried out by Shri Ram Sene activists. Advani brought up this topic during a public meeting yesterday in Bangalore. The BJP’s Prime Ministerial Candidate said that the attack is basically against Indian Culture and that girls and boys have their own way. According to Advani, there will be various perceptions among people of whether pub culture is good or bad but there was no reason for anyone in indulging in physical attacks like how the Ram Sene did on January 24th at the Amnesia Pub in Mangalore.

The Shri Ram Sene is a fringe organization based in Karnataka run by one Pramod Muthalik who is a discard worker of the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh). The BJP and the RSS have been dissociating themselves from this independent organisation but their opponents have been trying every bit by accusing them of providing support to the Ram Sene.

Here is what Advani exactly said “after all, Mahatma Gandhiji wanted supply of all liquor stopped in the country and prohibition became one of the Directive Principles of the Constitution. But I am not going into the debate on whether there should be prohibition or not. But basically I cannot condone any attack on girls.” In a complete contrast to Gandhi’s principles, the Women and Child Development Minister Renuka Chowdhury had given a call for filling up all the Pubs in the country on the Valentine’s Day.

Well the Congress has already reacted to Advani’s condemning of the pub attacks by dismissing it as nothing but a poll gimmick.
