Pink Chaddi Campaign’s Logo defaming Hindu’s Sacred OM Symbol?

India

On the left side is the Om Symbol (all Hindus know what it is and what it means). And on the right side you see the logo of the ‘Pink Chaddi Campaign’. Make out for yourself if the image on the right side is a satirical take of Hindu’s sacred symbol or not. I feel very offended that some incident in Mangalore should result in opportunistic bashing of my Hindu religion.
Pink Chaddi and Om Pictures
When the creator of the Pink Chaddi campaign is one Nisha Susan (you can understand that she is a probably a Christian by the second name), I can suspect that this was an attempt to ridicule Hinduism by the defaming picture that of replacing Om with an Underwear! So someone like me will point a figure about the intentions of this Pink Chaddi campaign, it has clearly hurt my feelings and I am pretty certain that many Hindus would feel the same looking at the images.

I know that there has been some malice against Hinduism that has been going on in states like Karnataka, for instance have a look at these images, a pamplet circulated by one missionaries of New Life which really caused unnecessary communal trouble in the state. These images should speak for themselves.

My intention here is not to spark any tension among various communities. As a Hindu, I respect all the other religions and at the same time expect the same from my fellow Indians. This is just a humble request to think again before defaming any religion. It would be better if the Pink Chaddi Campaigners put some disclaimer around that image, the best is to remove the controversial background.

  1. Hinduism Says:

This is not the first time when Hindu symbols and Hinduism is made fun of by the secular Indians.

  2. Shilo Says:

    I designed that logo.
I’m hindu myself and rather spiritual.
this was no attempt to ‘DEFAME’ the om.
The pattern in the back is what is called a “vector sun” in graphic design terms. Its been used over and over again (used to death actually) by graphic designers as a way of exaggerating or glorifying a central object.
If you want to know what the reference for the design of this poster was go check out retro icecream posters.
yes. perhaps I am guilty of defaming icecream.
    Also,google vector sun.
    Love!

  3. Shilo Says:

Ps- Please get it into your heads that all of these protests and campaigns actually have NOTHING to do with hinduism. Just like terrorism has nothing to do with islam. It’s a rebellion against the attitude that generates incidents like mangalore. Regardless of the caste or creed.
Stop generalizing. and victimizing yourselves. I’m sure you have bigger battles to fight.
    Love!
    S

  4. Avijit Says:

Om will never get defamed, because Om is the universal sound that resonates since the beginning of time. If anyone is getting offended it is because of conclusions they are drawing in their own head.

I am a graphic designer and I understand what Shilo is saying. The background id a very standard graphic element used by designers all over the world. You will even see it in Indian ads.

So I suggest you relax, take a deep breath and slowly chant Om to find the true spirit of Hinduism within your soul.

Here’s a step by step tutorial on how you can create this effect in photoshop. http://psdtuts.com/designing-tutorials/create-a-wicked-worn-vintage-pop-art-design/

  5. Hari Says:

The OM is far too eternal and transcended for any sort of defilement…although the question doesn’t arise here as I don’t see how a background design element can be constituted as having anything to do with religion. As a spiritual Hindu I do not see any connection between the two that should cause any hurt feelings. Sat Chit Ananda…look beyond your pettiness people to the infinite…stop wasting time on such trivialities…

  6. chamko rani Says:

    Everything is OM.
    OM is everything.
from the pink chaddi to the butterfly that flutters to the sea that sings everything is OM.
    get it?

  7. Master Says:

hey u fairytales man made religion, following a hanged one underwear(chaddi) pavli christian dirty chaddi women susan u already try to brainwash many youngsters i think time for her Assassinations and like her ppl has come, some strickness & action has to be taken now ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

  8. Master Says:

THAT TOY was made in europe..and fake pope was unhappy after that hahhahahhaha

  9. Dhruv Choudhry Says:

    Guys,
I know Shilo SHIV Suleman really well. She’s too stupid (you can’t begin to imagine how stupid) to think of such cool ideas. All you’ve done now is made her famous. Bloody rascals.

  10. Amresh Bhojpuri Says:

    Hey Master,
Really. Isn’t that a bit extreme. Assassination? I mean she could have drawn those rays from anywhere and I know her personally and was not part of the Pink Chaddi campaign as I am not interested in such acts and I can assure you, from my neutral perspective, that she has no intentions what so ever to put forth any slander towards Hinduism. Secondly, why are you so insecure about your religion?, it should be above an ‘assumed’ insult by a girl who merely designed a logo.
In my humble perspective its a form of come back by the RSS and the Shiv Sena as there is no other ground for an attack on the people involved in the Pink chaddi campaign. Its weak and shows how easily your emotions can get heightened for no apparent reason.
Get over it, really, we need to use our energies more productively and get on with everything together. This dissipation is what is driving our country closer and ever closer to anarchy.

  11. Indian Says:

    From Suleiman’s blog:

“500 times we whisper to the gods.
With each step, repeating his name.
    Until we’re in the clouds.
    Where Hanuman was born.
    Chai and Chilli Pakoda. Langoors.”

Langoors-monkeys in Urdu. Right after the line about Hanuman. But it’s a double entendre. She can also claim that she’s simply referring to monkeys in the surroundings (of a temple?).

Also noticed: not one pic about Islam, though jesus is clearly there as a frail, undernourished, lanky fellow.

I increasingly get the feeling that the said artist tried to mock Hindu groups, and conveniently used imagery associated with the Om symbol as a backdrop. Obviously denying it now that it got exposed.

  12. Razor Says:

Nisha Susan Thomas, mentioned on NDTV’s We The People that the pink chaddi is a symbol of protest against “RSS’ khaki chaddis”. The RSS has nothing to do with the Shri Ram Sene, so isnt this a malicious attempt to drag RSS and give it negative publicity throughout the world?

  13. Dhruv Choudhry Says:

    Indian,

Your analyzing skills are really pathetic. What are you trying to prove? and why are you fabricating your own stories?
Do you know Shilo? I think not. Are you a truly religious person or a blind follower?
Do you know where Hanuman was born? Do you care where he was born? Where was he born? How does it matter?

You really want to do something on the internet? Indulge in something useful. Go to the green peace website. Stop the Tata’s from building a port. Stop blogging about a 20 year olds art work. Especially when you seem to have no understanding of it whatsoever. What are you getting out of all of this? All you’re doing is creating an uneasy air and giving uneducated bums a reason to misbehave with women. I would recommend you shutting the fuck up before someone tracks your IP address and tracks you down.

    Indian it seems.

  14. Indian too Says:

@ Indian. Read that post on her blog before commenting.

She was in Hampi. At a temple. According to legend Hanuman was born in hampi. and Anjanadri (the temple) is a pilgrimage point.

Langoor is not an urdu word for Monkey. It is a specific species. According to legends these langoors are what is left over of hanumans army in the kishkinda kingdom.

I do not know the designer personally, but she is obviously a hindu from her posts.
I don’t see any icon portrait there as being defaming. But out of absolute love.

The issue here is not religious. Its a matter of every woman’s right to be free and safe.

  15. Indian too Says:

You may not agree with the campaign. You may not like the design. But it is UNFAIR to bring communal connotations into this because everything from VH1 to Washing powder nirma and mysore sandal soup has used those same lines in the background.

  16. Amresh Bhojpuri Says:

Well done boys, thanks for the support. Finally we got guys to talk straight to these easily led morons who have half a functioning brain cell when it comes to defending religion.

This is true – the straight lines have been used practically everywhere, almost half of the Hendrix posters have those lines behind him but we all know the truth behind it man – he was anti hindu (for the numbskulls here – I am being sarcastic. Problems? head to dictionary.com)

  17. Raja Vikramarka Says:

Morons, hmmm are guys and gals who over react to orchestrated/fake events like the mangalore pub attack. As the ramsene actors enter the Pub, the director shouts ‘ACTION’ and all the cameras from various angles take the pictures. In Police enquiry it came out that the pictures were sold for 3 lakh Rs in one single day. morons are people who equate stray incidents to terrorist activities.

Morons are those who keep over reacting and creating unnecessary panic and also distracting the police from doing the high priority things. While Jihadi terrorism, sleeper cells are at their peak, you morons are making a fuss of a drama staged by a combination of media/ram sene/anti-bjp parties.

    How to get easy publicity?

Any woman in Karnataka who gets slapped for reasons we do not know by some rowdies and the Media who are allegedly all paid for their anti-bjp and anti-hindu efforts are ready to give national coverage for that to taint the BJP government. It is as if no woman elsewhere in the country gets assaulted except in Karnataka. People are not that gullible to fall for these cheap tricks, they will never forget that 65 bomb blasts took place in the last 5 years, the Mumbai attacks will be there in public memory for centuries together. People know that 5 crores illegal immigrants from the east have been let loose in India just for boosting the vote bank of a party.

Air Crash due to Moral Policing?

Yesterday a plane crashed in Karnataka, for a second I thought some of the TV Channels would say that the Plane crashed because of moral policing from the Saffron brigade.

Obvious lies influencing the youth wrongly

‘A few days later Shruti, daughter of a CPM legislator from Kerala studying in Mangalore, was attacked allegedly by Bajrang Dal men for talking to a Muslim man in a bus.’ —-> This is a report that was published yesterday or day before yesterday

    http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Cities/Bangalore-group-to-take-on-molesters/articleshow/4232603.cms

Media is allegedly becoming a shameful liar. All of us know that the Kerala MLA’s daughter was abducted by DYFI activists related to this communist MLA, the activists themselves confessed that.

  18. Isthistrue Says:

Facts that have been doing rounds in various emails, messages on the internet

NDTV: A very popular TV news media is funded by Gospels of Charity in Spain supports Communism. Recently it has developed a soft corner towards Pakistan because Pakistan President has allowed only this channel to be aired in Pakistan. Indian CEO Prannoy Roy is co-brother of Prakash Karat, General Secretary of Communist party of India.

India Today which used to be the only national weekly who supported BJP is now bought by NDTV!! Since then the tone has changed drastically and turned into Hindu bashing.

CNN-IBN: This is 100 percent funded by Southern Baptist Church with its branches in all over the world with HQ in US. The Church annually allocates $800 million for promotion of its channel. Its Indian head is Rajdeep Sardesai and his wife Sagarika Ghosh.

Times group list: Times Of India, Mumbai – Mirror, Nav-Bharth Times, Stardust, Femina, Vijaya Times, Vijaya Karnataka, Times now (24- hour news channel) and many more. Times Group is owned by Bennet & Coleman. “World Christian Council” does 80 percent of the Funding, and an Englishman and an Italian equally share balance 20 percent. The Italian Robertio Mindo is a close relative of Sonia Gandhi.

Star TV: It is run by an Australian, who is supported by St. Peters Pontificial Church Melbourne.

Hindustan Times: Owned by Birla Group, but hands have changed since Shobana Bhartiya took over. Presently it is working in Collobration with Times Group.

The Hindu: English daily, started over 125 years has been recently taken over by Joshua Society, Berne, Switzerland. Indian Express: Divided into two groups.

  19. Carpe Diem Says:

Raja Vikramarka, A lot of us happen to know some of the women who got beaten up in Bangalore personally. I shall comment on the Mangalore attacks after some research.
You best shut the fuck up and go offline :)

  20. VV Says:

Hey! Good job. these men are insecure and weak, but getting drunk isnt the best thing to do, but thats another discussion.

Just a design advice: with the cool pink chaddi campaign..its catchy and everything, and looks retro, so why not put the man’s face( am sure he is old school too), who runs the campaign , done with some photoshop (put some glasses on him with some romeo like scarf or something) on with the chaddi, instead of the OM.
in this dark age, the golden symbols are already miss treated and miss-associated, so I would urge not to promote that.

  21. VV Says:

and media is F’ed up… esp. INDIA TV….I think FOX news runs that scam

  22. Indian Says:

Carpe Diem aka Dhruv, tell your dumb dolls to note down the bike numbers so that the Police can solve such important cases! since you know them personally may be you should provde some personal security to them.

  23. Venkat Says:

Find something worthwhile to do dude.

  24. Dhruv Choudhry Says:

@ Indian (You’re a pathetic nationalist, watch American History X and learn) – The next time 3 goons beat seven shades of shit out of you, we’ll see if you’re in a state to write down a bike number. Your ridiculous tone and approach to the entire issue is as twisted as your childhood. Instead of coming up with a solution or looking past the fact that her art work has nothing to do with the Om symbol, you’ve decided to your class 2 sarcasm in your replies. Kindly grow some balls and then grown some hair on them.
It’s sad that innocent women get beaten up when brain dead vegetables like you roam around freely and shell bullshit for timepass.

Idiots like you who use religion instead of rational and objective thinking really don’t understand what your own gods stood for.

  25. Sohan Says:

The radiating stripes pattern is not part of the OM, and the vast majority of OMs appear without it. Just because you found one image of an OM on that pattern does not make it a sacred Hindu-only artistic motif. Hell, you can find this pattern in the WW-II imperial Japanese flag, and I believe in their current naval flag. Is that good reason for Japanese naval personnel and imperial royalists to riot?

  26. prasad Says:

you ma be any one but all ma not be as like you just think about many people but not only one you must understand what will me be first feeling that any one will get yes i`m also a designer but designer must also think others feelings as well any one can design any thing but designer must think of all
