Haradanahalli Doddegowda Deve Gowda (in short H.D. Deve Gowda) was the first Prime Minister of India produced by the State of Karnataka. H.D. Deve Gowda was the 12th Prime Minister of India and had an insignificant stay of less than a year between 1996 and 1997 leading the United Front Government. He however was a supremo in his state Karnataka where he was the Chief Minister between 1994 to 1996 just prior to becoming the Prime Minister of India. Deve Gowda’s son H. D. Kumaraswamy has also gone onto become the Chief Minister of Karnataka.
