SA in tatters in reply to Australia’s 352

South Africa find themselves in huge trouble of the second test at Kingsmead, Durban. The hosts are at a hopeless 138 for 7 plus a nasty finger injury to Skipper Graeme Smith at the close of Day 2. Mitchell Johnson sent back Neil McKenzie and Hashim Amla in the very first over itself with the score yet to open. Johnson went onto cause further damage by bowling a snorter to Graeme Smith who had to retire hurt in the 3rd over. This was after the Aussies had taken their overnight score of 303/4 to 352.

There was another big blow to the Proteas when Jacques Kallis had retired hurt in the 25th over when he was struck on the jaw by a Johnson delivery which inflicted bleeding. Kallis did return back in the 42nd over but he didn’t last long at all. Jean-Paul Duminy is the lone hope for the Proteas with an unbeaten 73.
