Sarwan’s Brilliance Keeps Windies Safe

Ramnaresh Sarwan struck a magnificent 184 not out to help West Indies reach a safe total of 398 for 5 at stumps on Day 3 of the fourth and final Test at Bridgetown. West Indies are facing a huge first innings total of 600 scored by England but with Sarwan’s knock they look good to save the match and win the Test Series 1-0! The third day’s play saw some horrendous umpiring decisions that went against the homeside and bringing the Referral System in poor light.

England who are desperate to win this Test Match had won the toss and batted first. Led by their Skipper Andrew Strauss’ 142, England went onto pile up 600/6 before declaring on Day 2. Opener Alastair Cook and Collingwood scored 90s while Ravinder Bopara managed to score a maiden test hundred.

The West Indian reply was rocked by 5 lbw decisions but thanks to Sarwan the English have been kept at bay. Sarwan was supported early on by opener Devon Smith (55) and later on by fellow Guyanese Shivnarine Chanderpaul who made 70.
