Sister Jesme Exposes Kerala Church in Amen

Sister Jesme, a former Nun in a Kerala Catholic Church has released her auto-biography – ‘Amen’ which is intended to expose the sexual harassment of Nuns like her in the Church. ‘Amen’ means ‘So be it’ reveals several untold dark secrets of the Kerala Church that is unknown to the world.

The book ‘Amen’ may not be read by many Indians for the simple fact that it is written only in Malayalam. It seems to be getting sold out in Kerala and hopefully gets translated in other languages for the benefit of the citizens of the country. As the 52-year-old Sister Jesme herself stated that the ‘Society has every right to know what is happening to Sisters’. It certainly is not an isolated incident that can be swept under the carpet. Sister Jesme is very much like any citizen of the country and the Government needs to ensure that she and such sisters suffering from the harassment get the justice they deserve.
